Darla Broughton, owner of Desert Badger Baking Company LLC in Socorro (and former Kitchen Manager), says:

“The Socorro Regional Commercial Kitchen has been a valuable asset to me in so many ways. In March 2022, I started Desert Badger Baking Company and within less than a month I was able to bake nearly 1,000 cookies and sell them at the Southwest Chocolate & Coffee Festival in Albuquerque. I have since expanded the scope of my business to include operating a mobile food cart, catering local events, and preparing homemade-style prepared meals for my customers. None of this would have been possible without the SRCK. 

As the former Kitchen Manager, working at the SRCK provided me with a long-term job that I enjoyed, opportunities to meet and collaborate with people in my community, experiences to learn about local food production, and the tools and skills I needed to become the owner of my own baking business. I am immeasurably grateful to the founders, managers, volunteers, and financiers who came before me, and I deeply appreciate the clients who make the continuation of the Kitchen possible and purposeful.”
